Musta been their awards night (where Dirty Sanchez picked up player of the year and deservedly so). Full marks, Phelpso, for correcting the barmaid on her lack of football knowledge.

there's some overpriced dining (mainly restaurants opened by expat Victorians New-South-Welshmen who think people will be willing to part with $100 for a steak $72 for a steak, $8 for chips and $8 for salad, bringing the total to $88)

Fixed

I was surprised at the cost of meals actually. Very very expensive - even in ordinary places.

Take my advice next time...

Good to see the Sunday Breakfast is back. Hmmm, might have to pack up the kiddies on Sunday as an early birthday treat to myself...

Not sure if I can go there, Grunt, I didn't see when their Parmy and a Pot Night was.

Schnitzels are Mondays. That's the closest I can come to a Parmy. Although I'm sure the Executive Chef can whip one up for you as a special order if you're keen enough.

IF they have an Executive Chef, I have my doubts that he would be working the fryers on schnitzel night.

I remember having a marvelous (and enormous) Jägerschnitzel in Koblenz once. With a tall glass of Löwenbräu to wash it down.
Now that was value. I could barely walk afterwards.

I doubt they have an executive chef, although there's usually someone willing to throw the title about as a status point. Based on the 5 or 6 meals I've eaten at the G in the last little while, if the chef were to appear on "Misterchef" they'd be booted off in the first challenge.

Looking to grab a sunday breakfast out this weekend, which will mean probably Summit Resturant. Good view but at about $30 per head for a buffet it is a little steep for this cheap sob..... the wife wants a treat after predicting a bloody good tax return for herself being on maternity leave.

We have been to the restaurant at the botanic gardens at Mt Cootha on quite a few occasions, not a bad morning, but I'm not sure they run the buffet any more.

We were there for a walk mothers day and the place was closed for refurbishment. Decided on a place that offers buffet closer to where my ailing grandmother is staying at the moment, will visit her and give her another look at her great-grandson after brekkie.

Well, from m,y experience - the QLD diner is getting a raw deal - they get charged premium orices for a reasonalable meal. The Restuarant charging $140 bucks for degustation is a joke - I wouldn;t even entertain it .... Sydney prices for average meals doesn;t cut it - but if you have nothing to compare it with - well - I guess there isn't the competetion - you see Melbourne that has great dining at reasonable prices - whereas Brisbane charges huge prices prices for average meals. Syndey has fine dining at a huge prcie - but appropriate for what you are going out for but nothing in between. So Brisbane just misses out being stuck in the middle - charging massive prices - thinking they are Sydney - but not having the ajust above average like Melbourne.

I used to like eating on Lygon Street. Recent events make me a bit wary of ever going back there though.

The place we went to was The Glen out at Eight Mile Plains. They have a buffet breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8am for $15.50 per head. Apart from them being unable to cook bacon properly (either chipboard or no browning what so ever) it was a fantastic meal. Turn up well before 8am as the line-up is huge and you may have to wait for a table if you arrive after that time.

We are trying to explode our stomachs there again this coming saturday.
