He'd already have one. He just has to take it out of the brown paper bag.

I thought was what Serge meant. Take it out of the bag? How do they get them ready in your state?

Tassies top wicket taker this season, Brett Geeves is out for the rest of the year with a stress fracture in his lower back. There is an outside chance that Hilfy might be ready for the final Shield Game but its more likely that they will continue to rest him. Tassie still have a mathematical chance of making both finals however it seems unlikely now with only Denton & Drew to take up the slack.

Well blow me down. Big Adam Griffith has made his comeback after being on the sidelines for two years & has taken a Michelle. Griff took 5/85 & looked like he was never away. Adam Maher made his debut & also looked very handy taking 2/47.
Qld tail wagged to see them all out on 326. Tassie have started steadily & are 3/200 in reply.

Good to see another Blue bagger making out well in Tassie. Smooth Eddie Cowan has worked out well, too, might even be the leading Shield run scorer this season.

Cowen only made 22 today but he is having a pretty good year after a slow start.

after starting the day at 5 for 150-odd QLD continue to survive thanks to (he can't bat) Hartley.

QLD 8 for 296
Kruger 93
Hartley 92* (to go with this 68 in the first innings).
Drew 4 for 76

SA squeak home against WA. Chasing 94 to win they made a meal of it finishing 8/94.

Marcus North has done nothing to cement his middle order spot making a laboured 29 off 74 balls and 4 in the second dig.

The qbilly tail have been hard to remove this season.... though I think Hartley and co could have sped up a bit more once they pushed above 200 ahead.

Tassie off to a good start against WA. 3/202 just after tea. Cowen 57, Doolan 53 & Bailey 53 n.o.
Just as well as we have a very loooooong tail.

Tassie clean up the Wossies to take max points & move to third place. =D>

Doherty taking 2/13 off 9 overs. If he was from NSW he'd be wearing a baggy green by now.

I bet Terry Alderman is feeling pretty pissweak at the moment. Yesterday he was predicting a WA win inside three days.

Ease up on the Doherty bandwagon and hailing him as the second coming of Nathan Hauritz, BD, he couldn't even make the Tassie side two matches ago. Let him get at least one or two successful Shield seasons under his belt. If Doherty was from New South Wales he would probably still be playing for Tassie as he would have been behind MacGill, Krezja, Beau Casson and Hauritz.

The best way to get in the Australian side as a spinner is to make runs. Beau Casson, White and Smith have all jumped the queue by scoring heavily rather than taking wickets. It doesn't hurt to be a wrist spinner either.

I hope Doherty keeps taking wickets and does play for Australia. I have been looking for him to kick on since he had a good under 19 tournament for Australia, Bailey was in teh same team. MAybe now they are coming of age.

It did look like it at one stage, but the tail wagged for Tassie and gave them a handy lead.

Been the same old story for WA in all forms of the game this summer, they have been in good positions but just couldn't close the deal when it matters. Oh well, there's always next year.

I've always though Doherty was being under utilized. He has been the best limited over spinner in the country for years now. Its good to see him getting another chance in the longer game.

Is there a worse team than South Australia in Sheffield Shield? 72 all out in 30 overs, surely that's a federal offence?

The question should be more about the pitch at the Gabba when it's wet. 2 days before this match started, the QLD captain was quoted as saying something along the lines of "2 days of play will be enough for either team to get a result". Looks like QLD were the ones to get the better of the conditions - luck of the toss.

Steve Smith has been reading about Xav Doherty being the best spinner in the country, and is angry. First he flays 177 and is now demolishing the Tigers' tail with 3/90. Trent Copeland has taken five fer so a Test berth can't be far away given his earlier eight wickets against the Bulls.

NSW 6dec/468
TAS 303

Dohertys figures are still tidier than Smiths but i agree about Copeland. I think he would be a better option than Bollinger on NZ wickets.
